Pet nutrition

Animal diet

Nutrition, including controlling your pet's weight, seriously affects pet health, especially as your pet ages. Weight management is one of the most critical factors in maintaining your pet's health. It is recommended to give your pet an average of 2 to 4 meals a day instead of unlimited access to food (free feeding) since your pet will feel more full and will be able to digest small meals instead of one large meal. We recommend every owner to read the instructed daily intake on your pet's commercial food bagĀ  for your pet according to it's weight. If you prefer a more specific number of calories in which your pet should eat in a day, contact your veterinarian to book a food consultation exam. During this routine exam, we can discuss the exact amount of food your pet needs based on breed, activity level, and current weight. Remember that overweight pets are more likely to suffer from arthritis, certain cancers, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and skin problems.
