Although some species like keep to themselves (Refer to "A pet for you" for more insight on specific species), many pocket pets prefer to keep a close bond with their family members. It is important to keep your pocket pets involved and to create that trusting bond, for when their behavior changes abruptly, you can notice it right away! As they are very small in size, they can be very sensitive to all illnesses and must be seen by a veterinarian immediately if showing any signs of discomfort or lethargy. Pocket Pets should have semi-annual exams for general health check up as well as monthly nail trims. Our Practice can Spay/Neuter the following species:

Fun Fact !

Some small mammals such as rabbits have continually growing incisors and molars which could cause buccal problems and malnutrition. The normal grinding motion during chewing produce sufficient wear to keep the incisors at the proper length. Irregular surfaces of the molars help in the crushing of hard, fibrous food. Similar to the incisors, crushing of food by the molars produces adequate wearing of continually growing cheek teeth. If being fed an inadequate variety of diet (pellets, hay, fruits and vegetables), some rabbits will need chew toys for further help or have yearly teeth trims under general anesthesia.
